2024 in Review

2024 has come to an end, and now I must do another reckoning. I see that if I were to judge by my posting on this blog, it was a terrible year. As you can see, I hadn't posted even a single entry!

But don't worry -- I'm still coming back. This was another year in which I spent nearly 100% of my free time building up my music. I put out a second album, HOPE, and I finally finished putting together all the orchestrations I had planned to release, which will get an official launch in a couple of weeks. You can go ahead now and check out these new pieces up for sale, and listen to them all.

As the picture above shows, I also got to sing in Carnegie Hall this past June -- it was a blast!

And with that, all the cool things I had lined up came to an end (remember, in 2023 I had my first orchestral debut -- it's one of the orchestrations you can hear above).

So now, I'm looking for the next big gig. What comes next? I've got nothing solid yet, but I'm collaborating with a friend on my first musical about my church. Also, I'm collaborating with an influencer on another project. We'll see how that goes.

I do wish I could push forward with my writing, and maybe this is the year I start returning. My theme for 2025 is to reach out, which will mean more videos and making contacts with people. This is both in music, my "Always Be Better" series, and possibly in other areas. We'll see if that means more posts here.

Either way, if you want to follow the full Mel experience, you'll have to check out some of my other blogs I'm about to mention.

The Econo-Mel: In 2024 I posted 5 articles. All about Trump and the upcoming election.

The Mormon Mel: I wrote 11 new articles, including 5 new "Elder Elder and Elder Benjamin" stories, a few articles on politics from a religious viewpoint, and a testimony of Christ.

The Music of Mel: 1 new article on all of my fun experiences. I'm noticing that with all the musical happenings going on, I've been neglecting this blog. I may have to do a catch-up.

It looks like some of my music news instead went to my Melkim Publishing Blog, which features 4 new entries -- all related to the music business.

Always Be Better: 3 new videos/articles, and 1 hilarious bonus video of me playing Agar.io while discussing our Circles of Influence. I have a lot more videos planned for this series in 2025.

Finally, a list of my favorite postings:

Flipping Pennies: This one took a lot of work. I emulate bellwether counties by flipping 1000 pennies, and demonstrate math as to how much we can trust the predictive powers of these counties. Hint: turns out we can't!
Two Amazing Experiences: A detailed account about my recent orchestral debut and trip to Carnegie Hall. Lots of fun and excitement!
Yes -- I'm Voting Democrat This Year: During a highly contentious election year, I explain why this conservative voted Democrat, and I make several predictions of what will happen should Trump become President, and explain why my conscious is clear. I also launched my Lunch Tracker to keep track of my predictions and see if I owe a lunch in four years.
The Open House (The Adventures of Elder Elder and Elder Benjamin): My favorite of the missionary stories. The Elder's ward decides to host an Open House and fun shenanigans ensue.

While 2024 was a year of preparation, 2025 will be a year of reaching out, more videos, articles, etc. So, hopefully we'll see a lot more of each other this coming year. How did your 2024 go?
